I’m Dan and I have a serious case of wanderlust. Join me as I explore the globe, ticking off over 200 bucket list experiences all over the world.

My Bucket List

Building my own bucket list was one of the best things I ever did. It gave me the inspiration to search out more and more of the amazing things this world has to offer.

The more research I do, the more countries I need to visit and the more things I add to the list. I doubt I will ever complete it, but I’m going to have a lot of fun trying.

I am always interested to hear new suggestions, so let me know about anything you think I must see or do.

Cruise to Antarctica

Two days across the wildest sea on Earth, then a week of ice, silence and more penguins than you can count.

It starts with the Drake Passage, the stretch of ocean between Cape Horn and Antarctica where three seas collide. Then one morning you wake to flat, glassy water, icebergs the size of cathedrals and a coastline that no photo quite prepares you for.

Visit The Danakil Depression

Walk among neon-yellow acid pools, camel salt caravans and a lava lake in one of the hottest places on Earth.

The Danakil Depression looks like another planet. At Dallol, more than 100 metres below sea level, hot springs bubble up through salt and sulphur to create pools and terraces of acid yellow, lime green and rust red. The ground crunches underfoot, the air...

Kilimanjaro rises alone out of the East African plains, a snow-capped volcano standing almost 5 kilometres above the land around it, and climbing it is like walking from the equator to the Arctic in a week. You start in rainforest alive with colobus...

Be In Awe Of Angel Falls

Water falls nearly a kilometre from a lost-world plateau, so far that much of it turns to mist before landing.

Getting there is half the adventure. A light aircraft drops you at Canaima, beside a lagoon fed by tea-coloured waterfalls, then a motorised dugout canoe battles upriver for hours beneath the sheer walls of the tepuis, the ancient table mountains of...

Explore The Galapagos Islands

Sea lions nap on park benches, iguanas swim and giant tortoises amble past, all completely unbothered that you are there.

The Galápagos is the one place on Earth where the animals simply don't care about you. Step off the boat and you are picking your way between sea lions sprawled across the landing, while blue-footed boobies perform their slow, high-stepping courtship dance...

Witness The Great Migration

Watch thousands of wildebeest hurl themselves off a riverbank into crocodile-filled water, all because one of them finally jumped.

For hours nothing happens. The herd gathers on the bank of the Mara River, tens of thousands strong, grunting and jostling, edging forward and backing off while crocodiles drift in the brown water below. Then one wildebeest jumps, and suddenly they're all...
