Start here
I'm Dan. I work full time in IT, and every bit of annual leave I get goes on ticking off my bucket list. So far that's more than 120 countries, two overland trips through Africa, six months on a truck round South America and a lot of marathons. There are still well over a hundred things left on the list.
This site is where I keep the list, the stories behind it and everything I've learned along the way, so you can start ticking off your own. Here's where to begin.
See the bucket list
Every goal on my list, from the Inca Trail to learning to skydive, with what it involves, when to go and how to book it. The ones with a tick have the story of how I did it. See the bucket list.
Read the stories
First-hand write-ups of the trips and goals, warts and all: the bits that went wrong, what it cost and what I'd do differently. Read the stories.
Plan your own trip
- Where to go when: the best places for every month of the year.
- Places: country and city guides, with a map of everywhere I've been.
- Travel Kit: the gear I actually use and the companies I book with.
- Book through me: use my links for hotels, flights and tours. It costs you nothing extra and helps keep the site going.
Track your own travels
My Passport lets you tick off the countries you've been to and the goals you've done, and see your own map fill up.
