Overview
Peja, known in Serbian as Peć, sits at the foot of the Accursed Mountains in western Kosovo, where the Rugova Gorge cuts deep into the range. It is a friendly, unpretentious town with an old bazaar and a growing reputation for adventure travel.
Most visitors come for the outdoors, with hiking, climbing and the Peaks of the Balkans trail. Two of the region's most important medieval monasteries are close by.
