Overview

Escaldes-Engordany runs straight on from Andorra la Vella, so most visitors barely notice the boundary. The name comes from its hot springs, and the town is built around the water, with the Caldea spa as its landmark.

It is a good base for a relaxed mountain break. Mornings on the trails, afternoons soaking in thermal pools, and evenings in the restaurants along the main avenue.

Where to stay

Getting around

The town is easy to walk, and frequent buses connect it to Andorra la Vella and the ski areas.

Buses from Barcelona airport take around three hours and stop in Andorra la Vella, a few minutes away.

When to go

Winter suits skiers and spa-goers, while June to September is best for hiking. Caldea is popular all year, especially at weekends and on rainy days, so go early if you can.
