Overview

Encamp is a small valley town in central Andorra, best known as the starting point of the Funicamp cable car up to the Grandvalira ski area. Its parish stretches all the way to Pas de la Casa on the French border.

It is quieter and often cheaper than the capital, with Romanesque churches and good walking within easy reach. In winter it fills with skiers, and in summer with hikers.

Where to stay

Getting around

Buses run along the main valley road, and the Funicamp connects the town with the ski area in winter. A car helps for reaching trailheads higher up.

Buses from Barcelona airport run to Andorra la Vella, a short bus or taxi ride from Encamp.

When to go

Ski season runs roughly from December to April. Summer is ideal for hiking, and spring and autumn are very quiet.
