Overview
Lobamba is Eswatini's royal and legislative capital, though it feels more like a village than a city. The parliament, national museum and royal residences sit among the green hills of the Ezulwini Valley, a few kilometres from the administrative capital, Mbabane.
Most visitors come for the culture and the countryside: royal ceremonies, craft markets, and wildlife sanctuaries where you can walk or cycle among zebra and antelope. It is an easy, friendly place to base yourself.

Getting around
You need a car or taxi to get between Lobamba, the valley and Mbabane, as public minibuses are crowded and infrequent.
King Mswati III airport lies in the east of the country, around an hour and a half by road; many visitors drive in from South Africa instead.
When to go
The dry winter months from May to September have clear, sunny days and cool nights, and are best for wildlife. Summer is hot with afternoon storms, and the Reed Dance and Incwala are the big cultural events.
