Overview
Ngerulmud is one of the world's smallest capitals: a hilltop government complex on the east coast of Babeldaob, Palau's largest island, which took over from Koror in 2006. Its grand, domed Capitol looks surprisingly monumental amid the surrounding forest.
There is no town to speak of, so most visitors come on a day trip from Koror. The rewards lie in the island around it: jungle waterfalls, ancient stone monoliths and quiet villages.

When to go
November to April is the drier season, with calmer seas for boat trips. It is hot and humid all year, and the rainy season from June to October brings heavy showers.
