Overview
Dolisie is the Republic of the Congo's third city, a market and railway town in the Niari valley between the coast and Brazzaville. It grew up around the Congo–Ocean Railway and remains an important stop on the road and rail routes inland.
There are few formal sights, but it makes a useful base for the green hills and dense Mayombe forest that separate the valley from the coast. Expect a friendly welcome and few other visitors.

When to go
June to September is the cooler dry season and the best time for travel. October to May is hot and wet, which can make rural roads difficult.
