Overview
Cluj is the unofficial capital of Transylvania, a university city with a youthful energy and a growing tech scene. Its centre mixes Hungarian baroque palaces with Romanian churches, reflecting a long, shared history.
The city is easy-going and very walkable, with good coffee, craft beer and a busy festival calendar. It is also a base for one of Romania's most memorable sights, the cavernous salt mine at Turda.
