Overview

Most travellers only see Incheon's airport, but the city itself is worth a day. Its port was one of the first in Korea opened to foreign trade in the 1880s, leaving a Chinatown and old concession streets behind.

Today it is a mix of the historic harbour district, the futuristic new town of Songdo and a scattering of islands. It is also a handy first or last night for anyone flying in or out.

Getting around

Incheon's two metro lines connect with Seoul's network, and the T-money card works on everything.

Airport buses link the terminals to Songdo and the old port, and the AREX train connects with the city's metro.

When to go

Spring and autumn are mild and clear. Summers are hot and humid with a rainy season in July, and winters are cold with wind off the sea.
