Overview
Casablanca is Morocco's largest city and its commercial heart: big, busy and more European in feel than anywhere else in the country. Many visitors pass straight through, but it deserves a day or two.
The Hassan II Mosque, rising over the Atlantic, is one of the great buildings of North Africa. Beyond it lie whole streets of Art Deco and neo-Moorish architecture from the early 20th century, a small old medina and a long ocean corniche.

Getting around
The tram network covers the main corridors, including the centre, the corniche and the stations. Red petits taxis are cheap for shorter trips.
Trains run from Mohammed V airport to Casa-Voyageurs station in around 40 minutes; a taxi takes a similar time depending on traffic.
When to go
Casablanca is mild year-round thanks to the ocean. Spring and autumn are warm and bright, summers are pleasant compared with the interior, and winters can be damp.
