Overview

Nadi is where most visitors to Fiji arrive, on the drier, sunnier west side of Viti Levu. The town itself is a simple strip of shops, markets and curry houses, with a colourful Hindu temple at one end.

Its real draw is location. Boats leave daily for the Mamanuca and Yasawa islands, and the Coral Coast, mud pools and green mountains are all within an easy drive. Spend a night or two here either side of the islands.

Where to stay

Getting around

Taxis are cheap and easy to find, and local buses run between town, Denarau and the airport. Hire a car to explore further.

The airport is around 15 minutes from Nadi town and 20 minutes from Denarau by taxi.

When to go

May to October is the dry season, with sunny days and lower humidity. November to April is hotter and wetter, with a risk of cyclones, though the west coast is drier than Suva.
